Braun Series 5 570cc Shaver Review

Braun Series 5 570cc ShaverThe Braun Series 5 570cc Shaver comes with the unique Gillette Blade Technology that cuts hair close in a single stroke without pulling or tugging for exceptional closeness and comfort.

The unique SmartFoil featured on the shaver captures hair growing from different directions for a closer shave in fewer strokes.

Effective shave even in hard to shave areas can be provided by the slim Precision Shaver Heads.
With the Power-Comb patented technology, problem hairs that lie flat to the skin are lifted to avoid missed hairs in hard-to-shave areas.

The 3-Stage Cutting System that comes with twin foils and integrated cutter meanwhile shave long hairs and stubble progressively close.

The Contour-Hugging Head automatically adjusts with every facial contour in order to achieve maximum closeness and comfort.

The Braun 570cc Clean & Renew System automatically cleans, lubricates, dries and charges the shaver at the touch of a button. The shaver can also be cleaned under running water.

Below are the pros and cons of the Braun Series 5 570cc Shaver as described and experienced by its users.

Pros

  • The shaver is easier to grip and has the same basic form factor as the top of the line Braun Series 7 (Pulsonic).
  • The Series 5 is washable under the tap.
  • The “push up” format for the sideburn trimmer to be better/easier to use than the “flip out” format on the Pulsonic.
  • The cleaning system works well, and leaves the shaver spotless and lemony-fresh.
  • The shave is close and comfortable, effortless it seems and better than the Braun 7526.
  • The sideburn trimmer is separate from the foil and easy to deploy and use. The trimmer has a 90 degree angle, unlike others that use a 45 degree angle.
  • The cleaning device has greatly improved from the 7000 series and gone is the sliding post which was prone to breaking.
  • The shaver didn’t even pull one hair off one of its user. Every time he used the shaver, it’s a completely painless process. The user also never even got razor burn once from using this shaver.
  • The shaver is easy to grip.
  • The shave is not as close as a razor shave but very, very close.
  • According to one of the user, the razor is very light it seems compared to the older one (Braun 7526) but feels well built.
  • Charging in the base is SEPARATE from cleaning because on Braun 7526, if you wanted to charge in the base, you had to start a cleaning cycle.

Cons

  • The shaver is NOT submersible or a wet shaver, but you can safely use water to clean it.
  • This model lacks the pulsating action of the Pulsonic.
  • The noise is slightly louder than the Braun 7526 model.
  • The shaver doesn’t come with a plastic protective cover on the foil.
  • When disengaging the foil to clear the cuttings, one of the user notice that the 570cc unit does not vibrate as much as his previous Braun 7526 model and it is therefore a bit harder to dislodge the cuttings after a shave.
  • Mad battery life. One of the user has a unit where its battery would not hold a charge. The longest it has gone so far is 18 minutes.
  • You have to constantly go over areas to get a decent shave.
  • One of the user feels that the shaver is much harder to hold on to, and the shaver head is at a weird angle.
  • The down side of the cleaning system is that you need to purchase refill cartridges. If you clean every day, expect about 4 weeks per cartridge.
